白兰地酒: Why did you choose to attend 宾州州立大学白兰地酒?

Tarini缅甸语: I initially just made my decision based on my interests. 我知道bck体育官网有一个非常好的生物项目. 我也喜欢bck体育官网的方方面面. It has a really good alumni network and good resources for students to utilize throughout their time here. 因为这些原因，我选择了bck体育官网, but I chose 白兰地酒 because I wanted to be a little bit closer to home. I wanted to get involved on campus and in my academics while having the support of my family close by.

My teacher and I would have conversations about genetics, 研究, stem cell therapies and all things related to biology. 白兰地酒: What challenges have you faced at 白兰地酒, if any?

I can bounce ideas off of her, and I like that we're able to collaborate well.

伯尔曼: I think one of the 社会影响中心’s events was the very first event I attended at 白兰地酒. It was a volunteering event at Tyler Arboretum the day before classes started. 我去是因为我想交朋友. I knew I wanted to see familiar faces on campus my first day.

活动结果很好. Most of the friends I made there are still my friends today, and it was awesome. 因为我在那里的经历, I learned more about what the 社会影响中心 was, and I knew I wanted to make a difference in our campus community. I liked how the entire organization was dedicated to creating change.

白兰地酒: What’s your favorite initiative you’ve worked on at the 社会影响中心?

伯尔曼: Throughout my three semesters with the center, I've done so much, and I've seen it evolve. 我很喜欢在食品储藏室工作. 我认为这很简单, but one of my favorite things I like to do there is keeping track of the inventory. It was one of the first skills I learned when I joined.

随着我们库存系统的改变, it was up to the food pantry coordinators and the center staff to come up with a new solution as to how we're going to do our inventory. It's been an ongoing project, but we've just been kind of playing around with what works best. 现在，我们正在开发一个系统. 白兰地酒: With your involvement at 白兰地酒, how has your time on campus been impacted?

While I'm here on campus, I want to make the most of my time. 我觉得到目前为止我还能应付得很好, 我一直在优先处理我需要做的事情. 整体, it's been pretty positive because a lot of the activities I'm involved with have benefited me and helped me grow as a person, so I feel like all the time I spend here on campus is helpful.

白兰地酒: What’s been the most valuable lesson you’ve learned at 白兰地酒?

伯尔曼: As college students, we learn many skills throughout our time here. 我们必须学会独立. 我们必须学会管理时间. 我们必须解决问题. We have to learn who we are, what our passions are and what our values are. I think one of the biggest things I’ve learned is how to network. Coming out of high school, I was a pretty shy and reserved person. Learning the importance of networking and how it's gotten me so many opportunities has been one of my most valuable lessons. I know it's something that’s going to carry me throughout my life. I know how to make the most of my connections and my relationships with staff, faculty and students. 我知道这会让我在生活中走得更远.
